Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has introduced a dedicated phone-in initiative to address grievances regarding solid waste management (SWM), following the completion of over 50 weekly programmes for general citizen complaints. During a special session held on Tuesday, the corporation received 10 complaints, eight of which concerned garbage collection vehicles failing to visit specific localities, while the others involved dumping waste on vacant sites and unclean roads and footpaths.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the corporation stated that these grievances have been registered in the ‘Sahaaya 2.0’ system and forwarded to concerned officers for redressal, with progress being monitored to ensure action within stipulated timeframes. The BNCC noted that a block-wise micro-plan is being implemented across its seven divisions to streamline SWM, focusing on door-to-door waste collection, auto tipper routes, street-mapping of pourakarmikas, and management of bulk waste generators (BWGs).
This dedicated SWM phone-in will be held every Tuesday from 7:30 am to 9:30 am, allowing citizens to raise issues regarding vehicle timings, non-arrival of vehicles, pourakarmika services, and waste disposal. Additionally, the commissioner’s phone-in for other civic issues will continue every Friday, with the BNCC appealing to residents to utilize these platforms to help maintain cleanliness.
