Police from Magadi Road station in Bengaluru have arrested Mohammed Irfaaz, who allegedly murdered his wife, Rukhsana, 25, and disposed of her body in a storm drain near Gopalapura. The incident occurred on August 10, when the couple argued over Rukhsana’s mobile phone usage, leading Irfaaz to attack her, gag her mouth with cloth, and strike her head with a stone. He then placed the body in a bag, transported it by bike, and threw it into the drain before fleeing the scene. The body was discovered in the storm drain on August 13, and while initial identification was difficult, police later identified the victim and traced the suspect.

Both Irfaaz and Rukhsana are from Bihar and were married a year ago. Rukhsana had a previous marriage and a child, but had separated from her first husband due to family issues. She met Irfaaz while selling balloons in Bihar and subsequently married him. The couple moved to Bengaluru six months ago, where Irfaaz worked in a garment factory and Rukhsana was employed elsewhere. Police stated that Irfaaz had been harassing Rukhsana, accusing her of having an affair with another man because she spent significant time on her mobile phone.

To investigate the case, police formed 10 special teams that visited localities around Gopalapura to gather information about missing persons. Locals provided details about Rukhsana’s disappearance, which helped police launch their operation. When questioned, Irfaaz initially lied, claiming his wife had returned to their home in Bihar and did not use a mobile phone. Suspecting his statement, police intensified their interrogation, which led to the revelation of the murder.
