Manjunath, a 42-year-old advocate residing in Pattandur Agrahara, Whitefield, Bengaluru, was shot dead on Sunday night by two of his tenants, Pankaj Dube and Amit Kumar Dube, following a dispute over unpaid rent. The suspects, both from Bihar and working as delivery agents, had occupied a small room behind the victim’s house for approximately one and a half years but had failed to pay rent for three years, according to police. A preliminary investigation indicates that an argument over the pending dues erupted about an hour before the shooting. Muniraju, a police official, stated that the tenants initially spoke to Manjunath and left, promising to return with the money. Around 11:45 pm, one suspect returned and called out to the advocate. A close relative reported that as Manjunath counted the cash handed over by one suspect, the other approached from behind and fired a shot into his head, causing fatal injuries. The accused fled the scene immediately after the incident. A case has been registered at the Whitefield police station, and authorities are actively tracing the suspects while investigating the source of the illegal firearm used in the killing, including inquiries into whether the suspects’ associates or relatives possess other unauthorized weapons.
