The water fountain at KR Junction in Bengaluru, inaugurated in November 2021 as part of a Rs 2.50-crore development project, has fallen into severe disrepair just one year after its launch. Although the structure was intended to enhance the aesthetics of the area, it now features a stagnant pool of dirty water in one corner, with most light stands missing or defunct and no security for the adjacent drain gratings.

Nagaraj N, a pedestrian, criticized the authorities for failing to maintain the facility, noting that its poor condition in October suggests it will deteriorate further during the summer. Vinod Jacob, an urban strategist, emphasized that beautification efforts must include regular maintenance and accountability, urging the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) to conduct periodic inspections and install CCTV cameras to prevent vandalism. He stated that preserving public spaces is essential for the city’s long-term livability.

Sudarshan M, another pedestrian, called for police vigilance against habitual offenders responsible for the missing equipment. In response, the Executive Engineer (Shivajinagar) of the Bengaluru Central City Corporation (BCCC) stated that the fountain is maintained by a private company and that he would advise the maintenance team to address the issues.
